3. *BIRDWATCHING 2025 - Spring
$60
Field Trip 1 Saturday March 15; Field Trip 2 Saturday April 19; Field Trip 3 Saturday May 10
Birdwatching is a sport for anyone. You can hike nature trails, take special trips to “birdy” locations, birdwatch on vacation or just birdwatch from your car or kitchen window.  Some people keep life lists, some don’t.  It can be competitive, or just relaxing or fun.  You can choose! You can bird as simply, or as “technical” as you wish.  You can use just your eyes and ears, or binoculars and spotting scopes. You can birdwatch on walks with a guide who will help you do ID, you can learn to use birding ID books, or you can use phone apps as ID aids.  You can record your finds with notebooks, phone apps, cameras, or just your memories. Classroom intro is Tuesday, February 18, Keith Valley Middle School, 7:00 - 8:30 PM,  Our first class will be in the classroom.  Bring your phones, and if you have them, binoculars and field guides.  What we will learn in this first class:  Binocular basics: how to choose a pair that suits you, and how to use them. Field Guide basics: why so many birders still prefer a printed book as a learning/ID tool and how to choose a good guidebook. Phone apps: Audubon, Merlin, eBird. We will also learn some bird ID basics The remaining three classes will be field trips to some good local birding “hot spots.” Field Trip 1 Saturday March 15, 8:00 - 10:30 AM Peace Valley Nature Center  170 N. Chapman Road, Doylestown.  Meet in the Nature Center parking lot.
